Stoughton Trailers hiring again
Stoughton Trailers is hiring again and is expected to add dozens of jobs over the next few months, a company official said.

The Stoughton-based manufacturer of intermodal equipment is projected to hire 10-12 workers per week this quarter and is currently evaluating projections beyond that, according to Keith Wise, community relations manager.

“This is kind of following the projections of the industry,” Wise told the Hub last week.
The company has been rebuilding its work force over the last couple years, a trend that also had been noted in the company’s nomination in this year’s Manufacturer of the Year honors.

Company officials in early 2011 had hoped to add as many as 500 employees by the year’s end. It ultimately added 300, bringing its total work force to 800 in 2011.

News

Fire guts Dunkirk home

Authorities on Monday were unsure where exactly in the chimney the fire originated, but a combination of an older home and dry tinder likely caused the blaze that destroyed the home at 2398 Stebbinsville Road, said Scott Wegner, deputy chief of the Stoughton Fire Department. The house was built in 1895, and Wegner said the house is likely a total loss.

Boys basketball: Potential sectional final game taken by Stoughton

Stoughton boys basketball head coach Matt Hockett and DeForest head coach Craig Wesibrod talked before Saturday’s Badger Challenge first-place match at Mount Horeb High School, and decided it would be great to have the two teams meet for a third time in the sectional final this season.

Stoughton, which is ranked No. 5 in the Associated Press Division 2 poll, survived a late rally Saturday to win 46-42, but the Vikings have to travel to DeForest on Feb. 9 for a rematch.

Since the two teams are in different regionals, it is possible that a third meeting can come in the sectional final.
